{"id":3,"date":"2010-04-02T22:10:02","date_gmt":"2010-04-03T02:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thekingdomministries.com\/?p=3"},"modified":"2010-07-05T17:02:17","modified_gmt":"2010-07-05T21:02:17","slug":"why-the-folding-of-the-napkin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thekingdomministries.com\/?p=3","title":{"rendered":"Why the Folding of the Napkin?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why Did Jesus Fold the Napkin?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This is one I can honestly say I have never seen circulating in the emails<br \/>\nso; if it touches you, you may want to forward it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I never noticed this&#8230;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like \u00a0the grave clothes.<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>folded, \u00a0and was placed separate from the grave clothes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away \u00a0from the entrance.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>loved. \u00a0She said, &#8216;They have taken the Lord&#8217;s body out of the tomb, and I<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>don&#8217;t know where \u00a0they have put him!&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>outran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>cloth lying \u00a0there, but he didn&#8217;t go in.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. \u00a0He also noticed the linen<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered \u00a0Jesus&#8217; head was<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>folded up and lying \u00a0to the side.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Was that \u00a0important? Absolutely!<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Is \u00a0it really significant? Yes!<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nIn order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to<br \/>\nunderstand \u00a0a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. \u00a0The folded<br \/>\nnapkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>tradition.<br \/>\nWhen the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>was exactly the way the master wanted it..<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out<br \/>\nof sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>dare touch \u00a0that table, until the master was finished.<br \/>\nNow if the \u00a0master were done eating, he would rise from the \u00a0table, wipe his<br \/>\nfingers, \u00a0his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up \u00a0that napkin and<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>toss it onto the \u00a0table.<br \/>\nThe servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>wadded napkin meant, &#8216;I&#8217;m done&#8217;.<br \/>\nBut if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it<br \/>\nbeside \u00a0his plate, the servant would not dare touch the \u00a0table,\u00a0because&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The folded \u00a0napkin meant, &#8216;I&#8217;m coming back!&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">He \u00a0is Coming Back!<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why Did Jesus Fold the Napkin?
